In particular, I would like to remember the victims of 9/11 and pay tribute to the late Grand Master J Pat Burleson, whose remarkable contributions played a significant role in enhancing airline security in the aftermath of the attacks.

 

On September 11, 2001, our nation experienced a profound tragedy that forever changed the world. The terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93 were not only a stark reminder of the resilience of the human spirit but also a call to action to ensure the safety and security of our skies.

 

One individual who answered this call with unwavering dedication was Grand Master J Pat Burleson. History records J. Pat Burleson as America’s karate pioneer and “Father” of all Karate Champions. He won the first U.S. Karate Championships in 1964 in Washington D.C. His karate career began in 1957 in Japan while in the Navy. He holds the highest American Taekwondo ranking under the “father” of American Taekwondo, Jhoon Rhee. Master Burleson has been estimated to have 250,000 Black Belt graduates who are descendants of his family tree including the National Karate Schools.
