Our Elk Grove school sits on the border of Roselle, Elk Grove and Schaumburg and offers Karate classes to those as young as 4 or 84. Our martial arts school is synonymous with family. Our courses are known to wrangle in mamas, papas, and their kiddos. It’s a joy to watch parents and their children bow to receive their white belts together. We value family, development, and the use of martial arts principles to train children to beat the odds. National Karate will provide fitness, fun, safety, and deep developmental training for life.

Meet Your Dojo Director and Owner Cristian Nelson

Cristian Nelson is your Dojo Director and school owner at National Karate in Elk Grove and National Karate in Schaumburg, ready to guarantee a safe, fun, and comfortable learning environment. He understands how demanding and challenging youth martial arts can be, so it was pivotal to create an atmosphere where thriving can occur while also bringing inspiration and joy. Our philosophy is never to quit; the sooner we can get that in our youngest generations, the better their self-esteem, confidence, and ability to execute and achieve a goal. Come check out why our National Karate kids can’t wait to come back after a fun-filled evening.

Help Your Kids Learn Fundamental Skills For A Lifetime

Our National Karate families report our Karate classes have been instrumental in keeping the kids engaged while teaching them self-discipline, self-defense, and respect. Self-discipline and respect are fundamental tenets of Karate. These traits carry our students from belt to belt and belt segment to belt segment. They encourage our students to do ten more push-ups than they thought they could when they wanted to quit at two. Our students kick higher than they believed they could and are determined to become more limber to do so. They punch with more vigor and challenge themselves to become stronger.

This same self-discipline helps them earn higher ranks of belts which instills a sense of achievement that creates positive self-esteem. Those belts represent milestones, tears, mental toughness, and positive internal dialogue–telling themselves “keep going” instead of “just quit.” Those symbols represent the results of diligence, accountability, and commitment. Martial arts even impact a child’s ability to regulate themselves. According to a developmental psychology study on 207 children, three months of martial arts increased cognitive self-regulation and affective regulation such as emotions, values, motivation, and attitude. You should see other improvements in areas like social skills, classroom conduct, and cognitive performance in mental math. Boys had the most improvement, and children who did not take martial arts classes did not show the same positive enhancements.

More Than Kids Karate

In Karate, we value personhood, and honor and respect are at the core of this principle. As such, we care about our neighborhood and those around us who face adversity of any kind. Teaching our students the power of impact and civic responsibility begins at the level at which they’ve learned to respect themselves and the practices of the dojo. Driving these points home in practical ways beyond National Karate in Schaumburg is critical. We’ve participated in community and social events, and want to maintain our support network for parents by creating extra activities that bridge the gap between school vacations and working parents. Some of our events are:

Toy Drive for Cals Angels was a success! National Karate Elk Grove students donated 801 toys for children fighting pediatric cancer. Their generosity, compassion, and honor for others have created memorable and cheerful experiences for our community.

Winter and Summer Camps are a welcome reprieve for parents and children. We try to make these days off exciting and impactful with activities like sword fighting, snowball fights, music, obstacle courses, super soaker day, and more. Kids will even get to make up for any days they’ll miss due to the holidays and still be on par with their youth martial arts skills.

Holiday Parties are something we love to throw and participate in. Whenever we can create a safer environment than what’s beyond our walls, we do. Our Halloween parties always delight the kids and instructors, who always arrive prepared in their best costumes.

Kids Night Out lets the kids loose, giving parents a few hours to relax. They’ll play games, run through an obstacle course, and have refreshments.
